The NH35 in a Seiko Mod
The Seiko NH35 is the heart of most Seiko mods — robust, serviceable worldwide and made for nearly every modding platform. If you want to know what ticks inside your MedoMods, start here.
The technical data
The NH35 is made by Seiko Instruments Inc. (SII), an automatic movement with these key figures:
- Beat rate: 21,600 vph
- Power reserve: 41 hours
- Jewels: 24
- Hand-winding & hacking: yes
- Date: single window at 3 o'clock
- Movement size: 27.4 mm diameter, 5.32 mm height
- Accuracy from the factory: -20 to +40 s/day; realistically ±10 s/day once regulated
The crown has three positions: winding, setting the date, and setting the time with a hacking seconds hand.
Why the NH35 is the standard
Three reasons: it is affordable and durable, every watchmaker knows it, and it has by far the largest dial selection in the modding market. For roughly 90% of all mods it is the right choice. Only when a dial explicitly needs a day-date layout does the NH36 (date and weekday) step in instead.
Which MedoMods use the NH35?
The vast majority. Divers like the Sub Mod and Aqua Mod, elegant three-handers like Date Mod, Naut Mod and Oak Mod, plus Yacht and Oyst — they all run the NH35. If you build your own, it is also the base in the configurator. For a deeper dive, see our NH35 vs NH36 guide.

Yes, the NH35 offers both: hand-winding and hacking (the seconds hand stops when you set the time), so you can set the watch to the exact second.
