The GMT Seiko Mod

A GMT watch shows two time zones at once — handy for travel, commuting across zones, or staying in touch back home. Our GMT mods use the Seiko NH34 for this, a true GMT automatic movement with its own 24-hour hand.

How a GMT function works

On top of hours, minutes and seconds, a GMT watch has a fourth hand that takes 24 hours for one rotation. Together with a 24-hour bezel, you read a second time zone from it. The Seiko NH34 lets you use this GMT hand to show a real second time zone — not just decoration, but a working complication.

Who a GMT is for

If you travel, work with people in other time zones, or simply want to keep home time in view, a GMT is the most practical complication there is. In daily life it is more useful than most other extra functions — and it looks sporty-elegant while doing it.

Which MedoMods offer GMT?

Above all the GMT Mod and the Sky Mod — both built around the NH34 so the second time-zone hand genuinely works. For more on the movement family (NH35, NH36, NH34), see our NH35 vs NH36 guide. You can also put together your own GMT in the configurator.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a true GMT or just a 24-hour hand?

Our GMT mods use the Seiko NH34, which provides a true, usable GMT hand for a second time zone — not mere decoration. The exact movement is listed on the product page.

What is the 24-hour bezel for?

With the rotating 24-hour bezel you can read even a third, rough time on top of the GMT hand's second zone — a classic of travel watches.
