DIY watch kit: Seiko mod parts, tools and contents

For a complete wristwatch project, check the movement, dial, hands, case with crystal and seals, case back, crown and stem, and strap or bracelet. Check whether the case needs a movement holder or other fitting components. Some parts may already be fitted; use the supplier's actual contents list rather than assuming that "complete kit" includes every item.

Match components to the chosen calibre and case. For example, the NH35A has a date display and the NH36A has day and date. That difference affects your dial choice, but the calibre alone does not establish compatibility for the whole build. Check the kit instructions for hand-setting tools, a movement holder, tweezers and the right tool for its case back. Plan a clean working area and check which tools are included, which you need separately and which parts arrive preassembled.

Typical work involves fitting the dial and hands to the movement, casing the assembly, fitting the crown and stem, closing the case and attaching the band. The exact order and method depend on the components: follow the supplier's instructions. Setting the hands and handling the dial require careful work. A parts list or an assembly checklist does not establish water resistance; that needs an appropriate check of the finished watch.

Choose DIY if working with the components and learning assembly are part of what you want. Allow time for preparation, suitable tools and compatibility checks. A repair-tool set or replacement part is a different purchase from a watchmaking kit: neither supplies a complete watch build on its own.
