Anyone sourcing the components individually quickly notices: the kit itself is only half the job — the assembly is the other half.

With a DIY kit you build it yourself: that is fun and teaches you a lot, but it demands tools, time and a steady hand — setting the hands is the moment most dials get scratched. Mistakes are on you.
