Seiktos | 9-5 Two-Tone Gold Dial – 38 mm

Two shades of metal and one red heckle: on this SEIKTOS a gold-coloured bezel rests on a steel-coloured case, and across the white dial sweeps an oversized red scrawl, brushed on and built around the figures 9 and 5. Underneath, everything stays classic, with twelve black Roman numerals, a square minute track and blue sword hands. So 38 mm bring together three things rarely found on the same watch: two-tone metal, a Roman dial and a slogan seemingly thrown on with a wide brush.

Steel-coloured, trimmed with gold

The case is 316L stainless steel, the bracelet stainless steel; both stay steel-coloured. Gold-coloured is the square bezel, polished smooth, with rounded corners and eight screws, and gold-coloured too are the screws sitting on the links of the bracelet. In this way the warm tone recurs as small dots along the entire bracelet and does not stand only at the head of the watch.

White and smooth is the dial beneath. The red lettering takes up its centre and looks painted by hand; the black numerals stand at the edge, and the hands, blue right down to the seconds hand, travel above. Red, blue, black and gold on white, that is a lot of colour for a square watch of this size. It has no date window.

How the two-tone one sits

• 38 mm is what the case with the gold-coloured bezel measures, crown left out, which keeps it compact
• From a wrist circumference of about 14.5 cm the bracelet with the gold-coloured screws fits; it is adjustable and ends at 22 cm, and whatever links are missing beyond that you write into the order as a note
• Without a step the stainless-steel bracelet runs into the case, and it is closed by way of a secure clasp

Two relatives are close to it: one carries the same red lettering but is steel-coloured all round; the other has the same gold-coloured bezel but a white dial without lettering. Here both come together, and accordingly we see it on people who like to wear a watch as a conversation starter, with a blazer and T-shirt just as with a bomber jacket. Polished surfaces and the handy format nonetheless keep it fit for daily wear.

Behind the lettering ticks an NH35. The automatic movement also takes hand-winding, and during setting the blue seconds hand stands still thanks to its hacking function. Screwed down is the crown, scratch-resistant and anti-reflective coated the sapphire crystal, and from behind a glass case back lays the movement open.

Ordering and delivery

• Every watch comes with a 2-year warranty from delivery. It covers manufacturing defects and functional problems under normal use. It doesn't cover scratches, damage from opening the watch, or water damage.
