Case & Crystal

Stainless steel construction throughout — case, bracelet, and the safety folding clasp. Dial & Design

Green works on the Smooth Mod because the bracelet architecture grounds it — the three-link 3-Link style has enough established weight to carry a non-traditional dial colour without the watch looking experimental. Fine rays, eastern Arabic numerals and three single-colour neighbours

On the Smooth Mod Green the dial first catches the eye through its engraving: fine grooves run like sunrays from the centre to the edge, and the green looks lighter or deeper depending on the light. At every hour stands an eastern Arabic numeral, embossed and kept in the tone of the dial, so it stands out only along the light edges. Batons as hour markers are absent, so the engraving alone forms the structure, and there is no date window either. The hands are slim silver batons with a pale fill, the seconds hand is thin and dark. The bezel is not engraved but smoothly polished; below it follows a bracelet in three rows of steel, and the case sizes are 36 mm and 39 mm.

Oyst Mod Yellow needs no pattern: a flat lemon yellow with silver batons and small dark marks at the edge, without numerals, and it is the brightest of the four. Oyst Mod Turquoise is just as plain, only in a cool aqua and slightly grained, and so the most restrained. With Oyst Mod Ocean Blue the green watch shares the ray finish, which stays smooth there: the blue runs from bright cobalt in the middle to an almost black edge, and instead of numerals thick, softly glowing batons sit on the dial. If you like structure and numerals and still want a quiet case, you find both here; if you look for surface and colour in pure form, check the other three. The NH35 and the case shape are the same on all four.
