Tona Mod | Steel White - 40 mm

The TONA MOD Steel White is the light one among the chronographs in this line: a plain white dial, white subdials with silver-grey rings and a polished steel-tone bezel on which the tachymeter scale stands in black lettering. There are no black or blue surfaces anywhere on it; case and bracelet (this one with three rows of links), both in 316L stainless steel, stay steel-tone. Its case comes to 40 mm, and the Seiko VK63 Meca-Quartz, which brings a fully functional chronograph, takes care of the drive.

Polished ring, three rows of steel

The bezel mirrors whatever happens around it, and the black numerals of its tachymeter scale provide the strongest contrast on the whole watch. On the right, two pushers stand above and below the crown. Without the crown the case is 40 mm in diameter, and in height it comes to about 12 mm. A link bracelet of three rows holds it on the wrist, and you set it anywhere between roughly 14.5 cm and 22 cm; a tool for that is yours at no charge.

White on white: the dial

The subdials, at three, six and nine o'clock, have the same colour as the dial and become visible only through their silver-grey rings. The applied baton markers carry a light filling in a steel-tone setting, and at the top, at 12 o'clock, a triangle replaces the baton. Steel-tone baton hands, filled in a light shade, show hours and minutes; the seconds hand shares the steel tone. The dial does without a date window. You get it with a logo or without one, which you set on the page.

The same line has two similar models. One has its dial in black and its subdials in silver-grey under a glossy black bezel. The other pairs the same steel-tone bezel with a dark blue sunburst dial. Of the three, the Steel White is the one that manages without any dark surface at all. We see it in summer, with light shirts and linen, and on wrists where a dark watch would look heavier.

This custom mod watch is assembled with aftermarket components.

• Every watch comes with a 2-year warranty from delivery. It covers manufacturing defects and functional problems under normal use. It doesn't cover scratches, damage from opening the watch, or water damage.
