The Date Mod Classic in Textured Black Arabic is a dress-sport Seiko mod built for people who want legibility and character in equal measure. The textured black dial gives the surface a depth that flat dials cannot match — Arabic numerals at each hour position make reading the time immediate, whether the light is good or not. Movement

Inside sits the Seiko NH35 automatic — hacking seconds, hand-winding capability, and roughly 41 hours of power reserve. It is the movement serious mod builders return to because it is accurate, serviceable, and mechanically honest. The date complication advances at midnight under the crystal, driven entirely by the gear train. Optionally, the exhibition caseback lets you watch the rotor sweep — a nice detail if you appreciate what is actually keeping your time.

Case, Crystal & Bracelet

The 316L stainless steel case is available in 36 mm, 39 mm, and 41 mm (crown excluded). A sapphire crystal protects the dial and the Super-LumiNova on the hands and indices stays readable long after the lights go out. The screw-down crown and 5 ATM water resistance cover everyday situations — rain, hand-washing, accidental splashes — without a second thought. The stainless steel bracelet adjusts to a wide range of wrist sizes and locks with a safety folding clasp that does not come undone by accident.

Why This Dial

Textured dials and Arabic numerals are a functional combination. The texture breaks up light across the surface so the dial reads differently depending on the angle and the light source — never flat, never boring. Arabic numerals are the most legible index format available, which is why they have been used on field and sports watches for over a century.
