CARRÉ MOD - GOLD

The Carré Mod GOLD is the square watch in the MedoMods line-up: a compact cushion-square case with rounded corners, exposed bezel screws and a finely drawn white dial with black Roman numerals. Not a sports watch, not a diver — an everyday piece that sits low on the wrist and works with a shirt as readily as with a t-shirt. Available in 27 mm and 31 mm.

Movement

The Carré Mod runs the Seiko TMI VD78, a Japanese quartz calibre. Quartz here means reliability above all — put it on, wear it, never reset it. The battery runs up to 36 months depending on use.

Case & Crystal

The case is machined from 904L stainless steel in a yellow-gold finish, with a screwed bezel and a blue cabochon set in the crown. 904L is the harder, more corrosion-resistant alloy compared with the usual 316L, and it takes a visibly deeper polish. Above it sits anti-reflective sapphire crystal, which simply does not pick up everyday scratches. A glass exhibition back shows the movement. Water resistance: 5 ATM.

Dial & Design

White dial, black Roman numerals, a finely printed rectangular minute track and blued sword hands. The numerals run around a square rather than a circle, which sets them closer together than on a round watch and is what gives the dial its calm. Below the centre the dial stays empty. It carries no lettering.

On the Wrist

The five-link 904L bracelet is polished in the same gold-tone finish and flows out of the case almost without a step, so the watch reads as a single piece. It closes with a butterfly deployant clasp that lies flat and adds no bulk. At 27 mm it wears quietly, at 31 mm with more presence; both stay slim enough to disappear under a cuff.
