The GMT MOD GREY-BLACK is for those who prefer their watches understated but technically capable. Its dial is black, smooth and no-nonsense: a triangle marks 12, bars mark 6 and 9, and white lume dots in steel-tone surrounds fill the remaining hours; the steel-tone hands have a white fill, and the hour hand carries a circle. The only colour in the picture is the green shaft of the fourth hand. The palette stays controlled — this is not a watch that announces itself, but it will keep you oriented across time zones without missing a beat.
It is named after the character who operates equally in boardrooms and back alleys, and the dual-timezone ceramic bezel is split to match: black above, grey below, with a white 24-hour scale and a fluted edge. Read the fourth hand against it to track a second time zone. Hand-assembled at MedoMods on the Seiko NH34 automatic movement. That bezel is also what separates it from two relatives: one wears it in solid black, the other swaps steel for a rose-gold tone from case to three-row bracelet.
The Seiko NH34 is hacking and hand-windable, which gives you manual control on top of automatic winding. It beats at 21,600 bph. Sapphire crystal handles daily contact without picking up scratches; the crown screws down, and the water resistance is 5 ATM. Super-LumiNova on the indices and GMT hand keeps the black dial readable in low light, whether you are in a dark conference room or a late-night transit lounge. We see it on the wrists of people who travel a lot and do not want a loud watch with a dark suit.
Every grey-black is individually assembled and verified at MedoMods: a handcrafted GMT Seiko Mod built to perform wherever you find yourself.
More colourways, from red-blue to brown-gold, are in the GMT mod collection.
This watch stays colourless apart from a single line: the dial is black and smooth, white dots sit in steel-coloured surrounds, a triangle marks twelve, strokes mark six and nine. The hands are steel-coloured with a white fill, the hour hand carries a circle, and only the shaft of the fourth hand is green before it ends in a triangular tip. On the fluted bezel with its 24-hour scale the upper half is black, the lower grey, and the numerals are white. On the right a magnifier domes the date window, the five-row steel bracelet has polished centre links, and the watch measures 40 mm. On slate it rests next to a black leather wallet and a pen; the grey half of the ring comes closest to the stone there.
GMT Mod blue-black 2 wears blue instead of grey in the lower bezel half, plus a blue fourth hand and a strikingly large date window. GMT Mod red-blue brings blue over red, and there too the fourth hand takes colour, namely red. In the dial GMT Mod blue-black V2 shows a space motif with Earth and stars instead of smooth black, and the lower bezel half is blue. Anyone who wants a calm dial and a muted ring is right with the grey bezel; anyone looking for stronger colours finds them in the other three. Because dial, ring and steel stay neutral, the watch hardly stands out next to clothing of any colour. Case, size and the five bracelet rows are the same on all four.
