The 3-6-9 field dial Mod Black is a stripped-back field-watch Seiko Mod that prioritizes legibility over decoration. The all-black dial and matte finish give it a tactical character — clean, confident, and equally at home on a hike or in the city. Despite the minimal design language, it carries full GMT functionality via its engraved 24-hour steel bezel and Seiko NH34 movement, making it a genuine dual-timezone tool watch. Every piece is hand-assembled at MedoMods.
Case: 40 mm stainless steel – timeless and stylish
Movement: Automatic Seiko NH34 – precise and reliable
Crystal & Luminosity: Sapphire crystal with Super-LumiNova – clear and highly readable
Crown and water resistance: screw-down crown, 5 ATM
Bezel & Function: Steel bezel with 24-hour scale – track a second time zone with global precision
Strap: Adjustable stainless steel bracelet with safety clasp – comfortable and modern
On a black dial, contrast and luminosity carry all the weight. The Super-LumiNova indices and GMT hand charge quickly and glow clearly — you will not be squinting at 2 am. The sapphire crystal keeps the dial protected from the bumps that field use brings; the crown screws down, and the water resistance is 5 ATM. The Seiko NH34 inside hacks to the second and hand-winds, so setting exact time is straightforward after a flight or a week off the wrist. This is a handmade Seiko Mod that knows what it is: a daily-wear automatic with real GMT utility, assembled to last by the team at MedoMods.
On the 3-6-9 field dial Mod Black the bezel stays metallic: a steel ring with the 24-hour scale engraved in black numerals. The only colour comes from the orange GMT hand; the dial is black with round luminous indices. The 40 mm case, the NH34 GMT movement and the 3-Link bracelet are shared with the GMT Mod red-black. That model, however, carries a two-tone ceramic bezel in black and red, and its GMT hand is red rather than orange.
The GMT Mod blue-black 2 also pairs a black dial with ceramic, here black on top and blue below, plus a blue GMT hand. It sits on a 5-Link bracelet with small centre links. If you want to keep the orange accent but prefer a light dial, the GMT Mod Silver Horizon has it: silver dial, all-black ceramic bezel, also on a 5-Link bracelet. The 3-6-9 field dial Mod Black is therefore the version for anyone who wants a 24-hour scale without a coloured insert and a plain, tool-like look.
On the 3-6-9 field dial Mod Black, large round lume dots sit on a calm, smooth black; a triangle marks the top of the dial, with one bar to the left and one at the bottom. A fine minute track runs round the rim of the dial. The orange GMT hand ends in a large open arrowhead and supplies the only strong accent of colour; all the other hands carry a pale lume fill. The bezel is a brushed steel ring with no insert, engraved with black numerals from 2 to 24 in even steps, separated by small triangles; its edge runs smooth, without any teeth. On the right the date lies under a magnifier, and sturdy shoulders on the case frame the crown. The bracelet is built from three rows of links around a broad, flat centre link, as on the white 3-6-9 field dial.
The white counterpart 3-6-9 field dial Mod White shares the bezel, the hand shapes and the date magnifier but reverses the brightness: a white dial, indices with a black outline, hands white with a dark contour. Colour at the bezel comes with GMT Mod Meteorite, whose grey, streaked dial sits under a blue-and-red insert; its edge is toothed and the GMT hand is thin and red. GMT Mod blue-black V2 is more pictorial, with a starry sky above a blue Earth, a bezel split black over blue, a blue hand and five narrow bracelet rows. Anyone looking for plain black with no colour field on the ring is therefore comparing mainly the dial and the rim of these watches. Across the four, the size (40 mm), the calibre (NH34 GMT) and the sapphire glass stay unchanged.
