The GMT Mod red-blue puts the classic red-and-blue ceramic bezel on a 40 mm Seiko mod with a genuine GMT movement. Red for the daytime hours, blue for the night hours of the 24-hour scale — the most iconic dual-timezone colour coding in watchmaking, applied here to a handcrafted build with the Seiko NH34 doing the work. This is the GMT Mod for people who appreciate the reference without needing the original price tag.
Hand-assembled by MedoMods from quality components, shipped worldwide with tracking; within the EU with no customs overhead. The NH34 GMT complication is genuine — set it properly once and it holds the second time zone independently. Red/blue has been the reference GMT colourway for decades for good reason: it works.
On the GMT Mod red-blue the ceramic bezel consists of two colours with no black at all: blue in the upper half, red in the lower half. Black is reserved for the dial, on which a red GMT hand turns. It sits on a 5-Link bracelet; the case (40 mm) and the NH34 GMT movement are identical across all three comparison watches.
It shares the red hand and the red lower half with the GMT Mod red-black, whose upper bezel half is black, however. The red-black also comes on a 3-Link bracelet with broad, flat links instead of the finely linked bracelet of the red-blue. On the GMT Mod blue-black 2 the blue moves down: black on top, blue below, with a blue GMT hand and the same bracelet as the red-blue. The GMT Mod green-black, in turn, puts green in the lower half of the bezel and carries a green GMT hand, also with a black dial and on a 5-Link bracelet. If you want two strong colours in the ring rather than one colour next to black, among these four watches only the red-blue offers that.
The black dial of this watch has just one touch of colour: the red fourth hand with a triangular tip, which runs over the white dots. The bezel carries the colours on its own, blue above, red below, with the white numerals of the 24-hour scale and a triangle at twelve. Dots in steel-coloured surrounds, strokes at the bottom and on the left and a triangle at the top mark the hours, and the date sits under a magnifier at the right edge. The hands are steel-coloured and filled with a light colour, the hour hand ends in a circle, and the edge of the bezel is fluted. Case and five-row bracelet are steel-coloured, at 40 mm in diameter. Worn on the arm, the ring appears beside a dark grey sleeve with a white cuff, and on slate beside a pen and a black wallet.
GMT Mod grey-black swaps the colours for black and grey, and the fourth hand has a green shaft instead of the red line. With GMT Mod Two-Tone brown-gold rose gold joins in, on crown, hands, numerals and centre links, and the bottom half of the ring is red-brown. GMT Mod blue-black V2 surprises in the dial: instead of smooth black it shows a globe against a starry sky, and the bezel is blue at the bottom. Anyone who wants the colour only in the ring and a calm, black dial is right here. Anyone who wants the dial itself designed should look at the Earth motif. All four wear a five-row link bracelet and measure 40 mm.
