Seiko Day-Date Style White

White with a touch of cream, framed by steel tones: the DAY MOD - WHITE is the lightest watch in the line and at the same time one of the quietest. Ten steel-coloured baton markers stand on the smooth dial, dark baton hands with a light filling and a thin dark seconds hand travel above them, and the date appears at 3 o'clock. The weekday and the date both advance, with the weekdays shown in English. The stainless steel case measures 40 mm and carries a fluted bezel, and the three-row link bracelet is steel-coloured like all the metal on it. This watch has no colour in the strict sense; it lives on light and dark.

Bright without the glare

The dial is not a pure white. It is broken with a slight cream tone and is therefore bright without the glare; next to a white shirt it looks a touch warmer. Because the surface is smooth and has no sunburst finish, it stays the same in any light. The steel-coloured markers stand out only through their gleam, while the dark hands provide the contrast. How it looks on the arm

In our estimation, a light dial makes a 40 mm watch wear smaller than it measures: the edge between dial and bezel is less noticeable, and the watch steps back. That is why we see it as the watch for almost any occasion, from a white shirt at the office to a polo shirt to a dark suit in the evening. White and steel clash with no colour in your wardrobe, and if you want to wear just one watch, you can hardly go wrong with it.

Two relatives, two directions

One relative also has a white, smooth dial but sits in a gold-coloured case on a gold-coloured bracelet and carries Roman numerals; it is the more festive, louder version. The other stays with steel tones and baton markers but swaps the white for a mid-grey sunburst dial and dark grey hands. The White here is the most sober of the three: entirely steel-coloured, without numerals, without any finish on the dial.
